More about the Hanwei fire
I regret to inform you that Hanwei's forge has experienced a problem in the form of a fire. Late last night the forge caught on fire and much of the equipment used to make the swords have been destroyed and production halted. This in no way effects current stock in US warehouses, but pricing has been raised to deal with the inevitable slow-down of new shipments. Hanwei does not currently have a time-frame for the rebuilding of the forge, but assures us it will be dealt with in a timely fashion. Prices will be around 15% higher than normal on http://paulchenhanweiswords.co until further notice." We apologize for any inconvenience and will do our best to keep you informed of any information as we receive it."
This is Hanwei's official statement:
"CAS Hanwei regrets to advise that the Hanwei factory in Dalian sustained significant damage in a fire on March 6. The damage was limited to buildings, equipment and parts inventory and no personal injuries were involved. A full assessment of the damage and its effect on product supply is not yet available but plans are being made to resume production as soon as possible. CAS has a stock of most of the products in our current line but there is likely to be some disruption in the supply of some items, particularly newer products. We will be keeping our customers advised about possible shortages and delivery delays as more information becomes available."

"The rebuilding process is underway! Below you can see a sketch by Hanwei of the new factory plan. Hanwei has received approval for the new build and it is moving forward rapidly."
"Perhaps even more exciting news is that forging has begun again! While not at full capacity, Hanwei has been able to heat up a few forges and the consistent thuds of the power hammer are a welcome sign of progress. I appreciate your patience over the last several weeks after the fire on March 6th, I will continue to advise you as further information becomes available."

How Katanas are made!
Katanas are made by master craftsman with the skill and precision of an archer. Yamada Nagasama is one of the worlds greatest katana craftsman.Yamada Nagasama is a roll model to me because he takes a lot of pride in his line of work.
So, I start to take a closer look at this new sword from the Hanwei Forge. I must say I am really excited about this new katana. It looks really great and the O-choji hamon is really attractive in my opinion.

Hello fellow katana wielders
Welcome to the wonderful world of katanas! On my blog you will see some of the most exquisite katanas. There are a lot of different styles of these beautiful blades, here you can explore them all. This is a picture of my favorite katana Black Blade, made by Hitachi Marimoto I found the picture on If you fancy these beautiful yet dangerous blades called katanas you should subscribe right away. These fine blades are strung along a long line of Japanese history and culture. When a samurai disgraced himself in battle he was sentenced to seppeku. Seppeku was a punishment for a samurai after a defeat in battle. When seppeku is performed the samurai is handed his Katana and he has to stab himself in the stomach with it. Seppekus dictionary meaning is stomach stabbing which is itself explanatory the warrior was to stab himself it the stomach. Samurais followed a code of conduct just like knights. The samurais code of conduct was called Bushido, just like knight's the samurais had to be chivalrous and respectful. Some samurais are immortalized just like the precious katanas they wield such as Amakuni Yasutsuna. Some believe that he is the first creator of a katana.
Some master craftsmen have made katanas that can cut through military tanks! If you think that is interesting you should subscribe to my blog and be amazed with my knowledge with katanas. In fact I own a White Tiger katana set with every piece to it! Right now I am looking for a original kimono that match's the set. So if you are sword savvy join this blog and google away! :]
