These fine blades are strung along a long line of Japanese history and culture. When a samurai disgraced himself in battle he was sentenced to seppeku. Seppeku was a punishment for a samurai after a defeat in battle. When seppeku is performed the samurai is handed his Katana and he has to stab himself in the stomach with it. Seppekus dictionary meaning is stomach stabbing which is itself explanatory the warrior was to stab himself it the stomach. Samurais followed a code of conduct just like knights. The samurais code of conduct was called Bushido, just like knight's the samurais had to be chivalrous and respectful. Some samurais are immortalized just like the precious katanas they wield such as Amakuni Yasutsuna. Some believe that he is the first creator of a katana.
